Stitching In Colour is a creative and therapeutic group run by Pola Practice for Bla(c)k, First Nations, and People of Colour with the purpose of connecting like-minded folk with the restorative and rhythmic practice of stitching. This is a LGBTIQ+ friendly space🏳️🌈.
Used across cultures to mend, beautify, process, protect, protest, grieve, connect and indicate place and identity, stitching in its simple and intricate form has given voice to historical personal and collective events. We invite you to create in this space together.
Facilitator, Avrille Burrows (Mental Health Clinician and Arts Therapist) at Pola Practice engages in her own artistic practice alongside her clinical work and uses the act of stitching as a regulating and therapeutic outlet and means to express.

A space where heartfelt queries meet expert insights. As Zambians continue to shape lives beyond our homeland, the complexities of adapting and thriving often intertwine with mental well-being. Recognizing this, Pola Practice presents a one-hour online forum that exploring mental health resilience within our diaspora community. Driven by questions submitted by our community, this event boasts an esteemed panel comprising Zambian clinical psychologist Nasalifya Namwinga, psychiatrist Dr. Xavier Mulenga, and Ambassador Dr. Elias Munshya, the Zambian High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand. They will discuss shared experiences, challenges, and strategies essential for mental wellness.

Shooters Shoot’s first-panel event collaborated with Pola Practice.
We have chosen to collaborate with Pola Practice to psycho-educate and garner confidence within our multicultural and diverse communities about therapy. In hopes, our community members are guided to safe and culturally aware environments and left feeling more confident.
This event aims to debunk myths and redefine the stigmas around seeking professional aid. There will be panels, video showcases, dilemmas and more. It’s a youth event designed for multicultural young people by multicultural young people to destigmatize mental health and encourage professional help-seeking.
