Rhoda Makur

Psychology Placement (Final Year)

Rhoda Makur (She/Her) is a South Sudanese woman of refugee background living on Wurundjeri Country. She is a Provisional Psychologist in her final year of a Master of Applied Psychology (Clinical Psychology) at Victoria University.

Rhoda is intentional about practicing from a culturally responsive and intersectional framework and has experience working with adults, young people, and families across diverse social and cultural contexts.

Her motivation to pursue psychology is deeply informed by her lived experience as a help seeker, having encountered mental health services where cultural responsiveness were often lacking. This continues to shape her commitment to advocacy and to working alongside clients in ways that honour their lived experiences, identities, values, and strengths.

Rhoda has experience conducting risk assessments, delivering evidence-based psychological interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness. She also has experience administering cognitive, educational, and neuropsychological assessments, as well as neurodiversity screenings.
