Portia Kambasha

Clinical Family Therapist and Credentialed Mental Health Nurse

Portia (She/Her) is a proud Black woman and advocate for a wide range of marginalized communities. With over 20 years of experience in addressing complex mental health issues across various age groups, from children to older adults, she brings a wealth of expertise to her work.

Known for her kind and empathetic approach, Portia excels as both a Clinical Family Therapist and Mental Health Nurse. She possesses extensive knowledge in mental health diagnoses across the spectrum, allowing her to provide comprehensive support to families and individuals.

As someone who has personally experienced marginalization, Portia is deeply passionate about working with individuals and families from marginalized communities, including those who are neurodiverse, LGBTQIA, culturally diverse, or have felt "othered" in any way. She is dedicated to offering therapeutic services that are inclusive, affirming, and rooted in an anti-racist and decolonized perspective. Portia's practice incorporates systemic theories, trauma-informed approaches, culturally responsive techniques, neuro-affirming methods, and gay-affirming practices.

Portia's particular interests and expertise lie in conducting comprehensive individual and family therapy assessments, providing single-session family therapy consultations, addressing eating disorders, trauma and PTSD, as well as offering couples and marital therapy.

Portia is committed to promoting holistic well-being and fostering healthy relationships.
