Marym (she/her) is an Iraqi, Australian woman born and raised on Wurundjeri land, in her final year of Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) and Psychology (Social Science) at RMIT University. The daughter of refugee parents who migrated from Iraq, Marym’s identity is deeply shaped by her cultural roots, community values and resilience shaped by her family’s journey across generations.
Marym’s passion for social work is grounded in human rights, an awareness on how different parts of identity shape experience, and a commitment to critical social work practices. She is driven by the desire to contribute to helping create healing spaces that allow individuals to feel seen, respected and supported.
She brings experience in case work with newly arrived refugee families, her practice is informed by trauma-informed care, building trust-based relationships, and culturally sensitive approaches. Marym is committed to building safe, empowering, healing-centred spaces.
